How Crystal Healing Can Improve Your Life
You've seen crystals before...loaded onto the arms of hippy/yogi/free spirits, but you never knew why. Well, turns out, crystals can impact your life and offer many spiritual, emotional and healing benefits. Read on to uncover my first experience with crystals!
Here's my super-unhelpful answer (as of now...): I'm not sure yet! But I'm excited to explore and will definitely get back to you on that one...
So I've settled in at University over here in Scotland for my second year...and I'm ready to write more! I was walking through town today and came across a cute little crystal shop and popped in. I've been reading a lot about crystals lately due to my increasing interest in them. I think the healing aspect is awesome and definitely wanted to incorporate them into my wellness routine. I definitely think there's something to it whether the effect is profound or trivial. I was definitely inspired by Emma Mildon, registered soul searcher if you will, and her book (more to come later on that when I finish!). Basically. she outlines the power of crystals and how to use them, care for them, and choose them. Read the book if you want a great intro to crystal healing!
Going into that crystal store today, I knew it would take me forevvveeerrrr to chose. I'm the most indecisive person ever...like ever. The lovely Scottish woman working at the store assured me I wasn't a freak for taking so long to pick them out, and that it is addicting! So after about 40 minutes, I chose 8 beautiful stones to bring home and begin my collection with. These are what I got and what they are known to do!
From left to right each row: Labradorite, Aventurine, Aquamarine Beryl, Danburite, Sodalite, Calcite, Rose Quartz, Chalcedony
Labradorite: This small grayish-green stone is said to relieve anxiety and stress, treats disorders of the eyes and brain, balances hormones and relieves menstrual tension. It assists with respiratory problems and colds, and also digestion and metabolism. Emotionally, it calms the mind while energizing imagination and spontaneity. It is used to clear the mind, encourage contemplation and introspection. Uplifting, banishes fear and insecurity. Stimulates the throat chakra! I'm going to use this stone when I seek clarity in the mind and a spark of creativity or communication assistance.
Aventurine: This green stone is known as an 'all around healer' It soothes and heals. It will keep one balanced during times of stress and turmoil while increasing creativity and insight. Increases heart and lung health and muscle flexibility. Known to be a lucky stone, manifesting wealth and opportunity. It releases old habits so new ones can grow, bringing optimism so one can embrace change with confidence. Injects a sense of humor and openness -- bringing joy, optimism and hope --and a sense of decisiveness. If you drink aventurine-soaked water, it may help a variety of skin issues! It encourages love, so it may be used to awaken and balance the heart chakra.
Aquamarine Beryl: This stone encourages one to be prepared. It emits a gentle energy, like that of the sea. It brings order to responsibilities, reduces dependency on drugs, strengthens teeth and jaw and aids in the healing of the heart, immune system, thymus, lymph nodes, mouth and ears. Its soothing and cleansing, and inspires trust and letting go. It is said to be the strongest stone associated with the throat chakra, and assists users with speaking and communication with clarity. It allows one to convey their truest self through communication. It inspires those who judge to be more tolerant and assists in negotiation and compromise. It provides protection for travel over or through water. It regulates hormones and growth by stimulating thyroid and pituitary gland. Helpful for moving through transition and change, cleansing and helping one overcome the fear of the unknown.
Danburite: This small, clear stone is known to clear vision, regulate heart beat, remove coins from the body through the liver. It encourages one to truly shine. It is a powerful intellectual activator and provides a stimulus and responsiveness, it opens the mind to knew realizations. It can be connected to lucid dreaming, causing users to remember dreams as if they actually happened. It is strongly associated with the crown chakra, leading to an enlightened state, and more in tune on a smaller scale. It then links to the heart chakra, opening that up as well. It has extremely high vibrations. It also releases fear, grief and anxiety by bringing our consciousness to the higher chakras. Place under bed pillow or bedside table to enable the energy to work the best.
Sodalite: This pretty blue stone brings enjoyment to the user, eliminates confusion and helps one to reach a desired conclusion. Its uplifting and balances the endocrine system which strengthens metabolism. It encourages one to be true to oneself and stand up to their beliefs, aiding in self-worth, self-acceptance, and self-esteem. It has the ability to focus energy on the third-eye and throat chakras bringing logic and intuition in. By opening the third eye chakra it evokes rational thought, truth and intuition during meditation.
Calcite: This green variety of calcite is an energy amplifier, helping to heal the physical body and cleanse all the chakras. It enhances sociability and brings joy, happiness, and humor. It is helpful in the manifestation process, allowing what has been manifested to be received through trust. It is associated with the heart chakra in that it brings emotional balance. It can be placed right on the heart to balance the chakras. It helps to release old, comfortable habits that may no longer serve you, allowing bigger transitions to take place. Affirmation: "I find simple pleasures in the small joys of life"
Rose Quartz: This pink gem is a stone of the heart, as the color indicates! It carries compassion, gentleness, peace, healing, comfort. It relates to the heart chakra and dissolves fears and resentment. It also provides personal fulfillment allowing one to give and receive love to others. It attracts new love and romance (its also an aphrodisiac...) as well as bringing friendships closer. Its clearly the most important stone to the heart chakra, opening the heart on all levels. It also brings all other chakras in balance with the heart when directed toward the base chakra.
Chalcedony: This stone is cool and serene, inviting, and calming. It encourages reflection and meditation. It is nurturing as it absorbs negative energy. It enhances speaking and negotiating skills. It prevents weakness, bad moods, jealousy and depression. It reduces edema (body swelling) and regulates liquid levels in the body. By promoting expression of what we think and feel, this stone awakens the throat chakra, bringing our personal truth into the world.
And those are my eight stones! I hope to get more in the future, and to learn even more about crystal healing. There's such a wide selection of crystals out there, it can almost be overwhelming. But I tend to gravitate toward stones that awaken the throat chakra and the heart chakra, as that is what I'm leaning toward now. I'd like to get more that resonate toward the solar plexus and sacral chakras as I tend to neglect those. I love learning about chakras, our bodies' energy wheels. They can control so many parts of our life that we do not realize! Do you guys believe in the power of crystals? Do you have any favorites? Any special way you pick them out?
So yeah, I do believe crystal healing is legit. I haven't embarked on my journey full enough to give you significant evidence, but I think that those who believe are the ones who gain. If you don't believe in the magic, you'll never see it right?
